Darlin' Arlen, a ten year old Basset Hound, is the companion to Suzette F. Smith. Darlin' Arlen was adopted from the Suncoast Basset Hound Rescue after Suzette fostered him for three months and just couldn't let him go!
Darlin' Arlen joined the Smith family over three years ago and has made himself right at home. Suzette's "smooshy Boo Boo" is a definite mama's boy who has stolen her heart and put his big paw prints on it! Arlen lives to roll over for long belly rub sessions, and is so silly with his toys. He loves to dig through his toy box to find a stuffed hedgehog and "kill" its squeaker.
Arlen has his own loveseat that he jumps up on (or gets a heinie hoist!), scoops the pillow under just right so he can watch TV-behind his eyelids of course! His favorite pastime is to scour the back yard for peanuts the squirrels bury. He'll even eat the plant, leaves and all! Darlin' Arlen loves his sister, Princess Sweatpea, who was also adopted from Suncoast. They even look alike!
Arlen's last three years of medical history at Atlantic Animal Hospital includes Heartworm treatment, mass removals, management of chronic foot infections, and treatment of mast cell tumors. However, Suzette's compliance with prescribed treatments and Arlen's resilience have helped him survive all of these problems. Atlantic Animal Hospital is proud to have him as our "Companion Animal of the Month" for December 2005 through 2006.
