COMPANION ANIMAL OF THE MONTH

FEBRUARY

FRED

Atlantic Animal Hospital has chosen Fred Jones as February's Companion Animal of the Month. Fred is the companion to Ron Jones.  Fred is a ten year old, salt and pepper, miniature schnauzer.  Fred joined Ron's family about two months after he was born.  A family in Venice, Florida raised schnauzers, and after investigating everyone interested in the puppies, they decided Ron would make a great dad for any of their puppies!

From the day that Fred walked up to Ron and chose him to be his dad, they have been inseparable.  It is obvious to anyone who meets Fred and Ron that they love each other very much.  Ron always makes sure to give Fred the best that he can.  Fred and Ron are so close that Fred doesn't even think he's a dog.  Fred is very confident and has never come across anyone that he didn't like.

Fred has recently become diabetic and requires an insulin injection twice daily.  His diabetes is managed by regular blood glucose check-ups every few weeks at Atlantic Animal Hospital.  Just as in humans, Fred also requires a special diet to manage his diseases.  Unfortunately, Fred has recently lost his eye sight due to cataracts, secondary to his diabetes.  He was also diagnosed with urinary bladder stones after having abdominal x-rays to check his liver.  However, these problems do not seem to bother Fred.  He never complains and always has a smile on his face!

Ron and Fred would like to thank the wonderful team at Atlantic Animal Hospital for the great attention and care that the staff here has given Fred, especially Dr. Sukhija who spent extra time researching Fred's urinary bladder stones and the best diet for al of Fred's conditions.  In return we here at Atlantic Animal Hospital would like to thank Ron for giving Fred such amazing care and Fred for being such an amazing patient, and more importantly an amazing companion.  We are proud to have Fred as our "Companion Animal of the Month" for February.
