Toby and his human mom Beverly have been together for 15 years. Beverly adopted Toby from a breeder in Gainesville, Florida and now he is her oldest baby. Toby is very special and quite spoiled being her first true "pet". Sometimes it is difficult to ascertain who is the owner and who is the "pet" as Toby has a true Lhasa personality and has always "demanded" respect from his mom. Beverly sometimes regrets not having gone to obedience school so that she could learn to obey him better!
Toby has several special characteristics including a constant capacity to smile. He also understands English and always knows what he is being told. If he had the physical capacity to speak English, Beverly could have quite a conversation with him. In addition to these astounding skills and intelligence, Toby also makes a great alarm clock!
Toby has been coming to Atlantic Animal Hospital since 2002 for his wellness exams, vaccines, preventatives and some minor problems. Beverly first noted Toby having seizure like activity on Christmas Eve 2005. A diagnosis of early heart failure and possible epilepsy or cranium neoplasia was made after a thorough medical work-up including radiographs, blood work, and an electrocardiogram. We are very happy to report that Toby is doing very well and admire Beverly for her care and love for him. We at Atlantic Animal Hospital feel privileged to be witnesses to the human-animal bond between Beverly and Toby.
